Spiritual mentorship, being one of the many types of mentorship, is a very valuable relationship that serves to help us grow into the things that God has called us to and to minister to those that God has called to mentor us. Having a mentor helps one to seek guidance and receive covering in the journey to reaching what you know or may not know you are to reach or attain in life. Look at the life of Elijah and Elisha for great lessons on mentorship and leadership from 1 Kings 19.
Sometimes God deliberately places certain people in our lives so we can fulfil what He has called us to.
However, oftentimes, mentorship has been abused or misunderstood to mean that the one mentoring you takes control of your life and you live in their shadow. Yet No, mentorship is supposed to be a place where you grow and aspire to be where your mentor is at and even beyond and also travel an easier road than they have traveled and eventually grow because they have helped you to see the greatness within yourself and grow beyond even their achievements. Mentorship helps develop accountability and self growth when done right. I thank God for my mentor @cleoshoko as she prays with me, prays for me, encourages me, rebukes me and I pray for her too when the Spirit prompts me and I also silently learn so much from her in how she conducts herself so that tomorrow I will be a better version of myself. There’s so much more one can share on this topic but I will end it here.
